RE: Dodge Cummins clutch job

Okay something is amiss because 05 Dodge Rams have a 7/70k mile warranty on the drivetrain. The 05 Ram also has a 6 speed manual, not a 5 speed. HubI believe the clutch is not covered by that warranty in Dodge Diesel Pick ups, at least they didn't used to be. I stand corrected. It specifically says that Clutch discs are only covered under the 12/12k warranty and are excluded from all other warrantys. Glad I got an auto. Hub

RE: KAWASAKI KFX450R

Cannondales had fuel injection as well, no issues with those other than the fact they were way to expensive for a quad. Hub

RE: Ethanol in fuel?

just ran 4 tanks of E85. @ 2.99 a gal, through my wifes '06 1500 Chev crew cab 4x4 5.3 flex fuel engine. The four tanks averaged 12.1 mpg. On reg unleaded, at 3.79 a gal, it averages 16.5 mpgs around here. I'm all rural and highway driving with no city. Dollars per mile about the same but prefere reg unleaded as I don't have to refuel as often. Jim But with the e-10 there is no price break to offset the loss in fuel milage. You are just getting the shaft. Hub

RE: Adding fresh water capacity

or you could build something like this for about 120 bucks.... Extra 42 gallons of water. My toyhauler has a 37 gallon tank.. I use it and transfer water from this to it with a PVC hose. Has a 12v 260GPM pump. http://www.roostingthedunes.com/Temp/water.jpg http://www.roostingthedunes.com/Temp/water1.jpg http://www.roostingthedunes.com/Temp/water2.jpg Hub

RE: 2 Honda EU2000i's Question

Hub, does that mean I can get by with the Cheaper 20amp parallel kit and just change the end to a 30amp female? Not change the end, but rather cut the cable in two and use the cut ends to wire to a 30 amp outlet. Here's a link with pictures: DIY paralleling setup Exactly like this one... I used a Outdoor junction box and a 30amp RV plug from Lowes (like 8 bucks for bothparts) and the honda cable. There are many many ways to accomplish the same reult as the $200+ gentran box. You can also parallel across the regular outlets. I will try to find my pamplet that came with the cables and scan it to show what Honda says. If you cannot draw from both gens through one outlet what is the point of paralleling them with honda's cable? You can also find a huge amount of info on these and other mods like ecxtended run gas tanks here.... http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/Honda_EU2000_Generators/ Hub

RE: 2 Honda EU2000i's Question

OK I have a Honda EU2000i and I love it. I don't know alot about this stuff so bear with me. It puts out 2000 watts at a burst and continuous output of about 1600 watts, all at 13.6 amps. (I think) If I break down and buy a second one to run in tandem will it now put out 27.2 amps? Will I be able to plug my 30 amp cord directly into them or will I still need to use am adapter? Will it run my AC 15kBTU? You get 26.6 amps out of them paralleled (Honda's Measurment, not mine) You can buy the Honda Parallel cable and use the standard plug when parallel them. IT DOES utalize both gens to make 26.6 amps to the plug. This is covered in the Honda cable instructions. What I did, for the sake of convience, is to buy the Honda Cable, cut it in half, wire it to a RV 30amp plug inside a box and you have a parallel cable that hooks diectly to your shore power cord. This saves you from using a 30amp to 15amp dogbone. Hub

RE: Honda EU2000 generator....

Yeah there arer a lot of arguments on gensets on this site. I opted for the 2 Honda's with a home made Parallel kit and 5 gallon extended run fuel tank I put together myself. The selling points of them to me were.. 48lbs Dry weight each, make them easy to minipulate Quiet as you can get. If I only need one I only run one. Easy to maintain The only downside was the cost. A pair of them shipped to my house was $1748.00. The Parallel kit cost me about 45 bucks to make by using the factory honda cable. The gas tank cost me about 18 bucks to make. I am glad that I got that setup, especally when we had the ice storm in OK. I was without power for 7 days. Well actually I was not provided power from the power company for 7 days. In those 7 days I used 18 gallons of gas total, not running them all night for the first 5 days, got tired of waking up cold and was unsure when the power would come back on. I rewired my natural gas furnace and watched tv most of the time. They are a good choice IMO. Hub

RE: Battery Cut Off Switch?

I have a Guest Switch on my Toy Hauler and it takes the batter out of the circuit so the converter will not charge the battery if plugged in. Looks like this http://www.marinco.com/images/products/large/2112A-17-CMYK-02.jpg Hub

RE: Cruise control - fixable on my own? E-350 Chasis

Well one thing you can do is check and see if the thing is under the recall for faulty part on the master cylinder, it escapes me the name of it. It connects to the Master cylinder and the pressure of the brakes bening tapped or applied disengages the CC. Look at it and see if it is leaking brake fluid aroud it. Bad news is that if it is this part there is a long waiting list to get one because Ford has been out of stock. I will remember the part name and edit my post if I do. EDIT: It may or may not affect your application... "Ford found that brake fluid coul leak through the cruise deactivation switch into the cruise system's electrical components and cause corrosion. Corrosion can cause a short and keep the cruise control from working, but in some cases it can lead to a higher flow of current that can overheat and cause a fire at the switch." Hub

RE: Propane tank safety

Just a question. How is carrying a propane tank securely fastened to the rear bumper any different that the two 5 gallon gas cans that you see on all the Jeeps and other vehicles running up and down the hiways? Then too, here in the desert you see all these atv's on trailers, trucks etc. going down the hiway with all these red plastic gas cans just sitting there unsecured. Surely, this is not as safe as a securely fastened tank on a rear bumper Gasoline is not under pressure like LPG is. An LPG bottle is a bomb. Hub

RE: Honda gas caps

Hey guys someone posted a link to a store named Xtreme out of California.Found the web site, and tried calling. No response.Does anyone know if this place is still open? They carry Kipor generators and i was told the gas caps are the same as the Honda.Anybody have any suggestions where to find more places that sell them? Yes they are open and the guy is Asian. I ordered mine online and did not get a confirmation fro him . icalled and left him a voicemail. I got worried when I did not get a return real quick but I did get a phone call saying he received my order and it was sent out. I did receive my cap in a few days. I ws skeptical thinking I may have lost 10 bucks but I did get my cap and all is well. Oh and it works like a champ! If I could have gotten a Honda cap for 13 I would have bought it. Locally they want 18.95 plus tax EACH for the honda caps. If you have a local RV shop that carries Kipors (2 of them in my town) they can get the Kipor caps. Someone will say Ohio Kipor but they want 25 bucks for a cap. HAHAHAHA they can keep those for a long time! Hub

RE: Newbie Honda owner questions

I'm very glad I bought two extra Honda caps (any brand that fits will do, though) and permanently mounted them to the tank's fuel lines to the gens. Otherwise I'd have to assemble/disassemble the original caps each time I want to use the tank. I totally agree with that. Life is much easier with the extra caps. Hub

RE: Newbie Honda owner questions

I spent roughly $1800 on the EU2000's. $100+ on the aux tank. And about $60 on my parallel cables. So, it was very easy to justify another $28 for a pair of gas caps dedicated solely to the aux tank. Yeah the gas caps are not terribly expensive but I like to save money where I can. Gens were 1789, brass fittings were 2.28, Atwood boat tank was 14, gas tubing was already laying around, Shut off valve was 4 (not necessary but convienent), and the Kipor caps were 16 bucks for the 2 I have. Also had JB Weld laying around too. So I have $36.28 in my extended run tank. Give or take a few dollars for the JB Weld and Gas tubing I have had for a while. Way cheaper than the 129 they want for them. My Parallel kit was about 50 to make, with the Honda parallel cable being the most cost. The roll around box I made for them I have less than 10 bucks in, with the paint being the most expensive part. My Neighbors brother works for a QT and gave him a bunch of wood, plywood, and casters from pallets they use to shipp remodeling fixtures in. Glue and Brads I already had. Hub
